Joshua 1:5-6
No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
In order to lead and guide his people into Canaan, Joshua had to fight endlessly against his enemies and constantly faced difficulties. In the midst of countless hardships, God became Joshua’s strength. Not only did God promise to be with him, but God also promised to help him defeat his enemies.
In this way, when you look at biblical history, all the key figures of God went through various tribulations, hardships, life-threatening situations, and times of extreme suffering. Yet, their spirits did well eternally.
Suffering Doesn’t Come Because God Fails to Help You
People go through various suffering and tribulations not because God Almighty does not help them or accompany them. For example, although Jesus was the Savior God sent to save this world, He faced hardships and suffering every single day without exception. However, even in the midst of extreme hardships, God continued to carry out His Will at each time.
There has never been a time period in which God’s Will and purpose were fulfilled without any suffering or sacrifice. Despite this, just as He did for Joshua and countless other biblical figures, we must believe that God will accompany us and help us wherever we go, and absolutely seek God and be united with Him.
Center on the Word to Overcome Hardships
Although the Messiah Jesus accompanied his followers to a great degree, various hardships and suffering kept coming to them. However, the disciples were able to remain firm because they centered on the Word.
Even though the number of believers in that time period were few, because they believed in God and Jesus who appeared through the Word, the Holy Spirit accompanied them. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Word of life delivered through Jesus kept spreading.
In every time period, God’s history of life is surely fulfilled, even if there are all kinds of suffering and hardships. Therefore, everyone must live absolutely believing in and taking action on God and Jesus’ Word of life.
Do Not Separate the Word and the One Who Gave It
You should believe that Jesus and the Word He delivered are one. And since you believe in Jesus, you should also believe that He is one with God who sent Him.
God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus accompany you and help you in order to fulfill Their Will and to resolve your hardships and suffering. However, even if God is with you and helping you, you may still face difficulties and suffering. So trust that God absolutely fulfills His Will and accompanies you, believe in the Word, believe in Jesus who gave that Word, look to and absolutely believe in God who sent Him, stand firm on the Word, and overcome the hardships with harmony, love, comfort, and encouragement. God will surely comfort you and give you strength.
