God Is the Strength and Power

Isaiah 12:2

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”

Without Strength, You Cannot Do Anything

All creation exists with strength. If the stars in the universe, the moon, the sun, and even the Earth had no strength, they would all fall down. People exist with strength too. When you lose strength, you cannot do what you could do well before. When you lose strength, you don’t want to do anything; you don’t want to eat, and it’s difficult to think or move. Consequently, worries pile up until you can’t help but collapse in a heap. It’s the same for adults, parents, and leaders: once they lose strength, they collapse to the ground right where they are.

The same is true with faith. Without strength, you can’t really listen to the Word, you don’t want to pray, you don’t want to praise, and you don’t want to put in the effort to realize.

Oftentimes, people seem like they are strong, yet they are weak. They act like heroes on a battlefield, but once difficulties arise, they lose strength instantly and collapse.

People lose strength when things don’t turn out the way they want. This could be with school, work, family, finances, or other psychological difficulties. They can lose strength even when something upsets them for just a second. People also lose strength when they are rebuked, or when someone bad-mouths them, gives them a difficult time, or causes injustice for them. When people are anxious or have a hard time, they lose strength, and ultimately collapse when they reach their limit. When you leave yourself in that state with no strength, you can’t do anything.

Where Does Strength Come From?

People receive strength when they sleep, eat, exercise, get higher grades, become employed, gain money and fame, are acknowledged by others, and when things turn out the way they want. However, with that strength alone, they will surely collapse again. Therefore, you need to receive God’s strength.

What is God’s strength? It refers to His breath of life. Another word to express God’s breath of life is vitality. This strength is the strength of the heart, thoughts, and mind; it is spiritual strength. God’s strength enters most powerfully through the Word and prayer.

Like it says in John 1:1, God appears and delivers His Will through the Word. So first, God’s strength—God’s breath of life—comes into us through the Word.

Prayer is conversation. Whom do we hold this conversation with? We converse with the Trinity and Jesus. Also, prayer is the only path that connects us to God. Through prayer, our thoughts transform into God’s thoughts. That is why, second, God’s strength—God’s breath of life—enters us through prayer.

When you are depleted of strength, it is all the more important to stand up with the strength of the Word and prayer. Also, stand up with the strength of encouraging and comforting each other and uniting together as one.

And even though it may be difficult, you need to continue to do the work you are responsible for and lead your life well. When you do so, you will be able to start over and regain your strength.

Receive the Strength of the Trinity and Jesus

The most fundamental and greatest strength is the strength of the Trinity and Jesus that comes upon you. This is not our own strength; it is the strength that comes from the Trinity and Jesus working through you. That’s why it is so powerful.

In order to receive the Trinity’s strength and the strength of Jesus, you need to pray. Second only to the Word, God’s strength comes powerfully through prayer. Pray every day for the accompanying presence of the Trinity, who are the fundamental beings of strength, and pray to receive strength. We have to feel how desperately we need the strength that God gives, and then go before Him and seek it.

When trying to lift something, if you don’t put your strength into it, you can’t lift it up. You can lift it only as much as you put your strength into it. In the same way, don’t just think that God’s strength will come. Rather, you need to seek as much strength as you need.

Ask God to help you build up your spiritual strength and increasingly secure your territory of prayer. Then you’ll be able to pray more deeply. Pray to defeat Satan and demons, defeat temptations, and receive spiritual strength to defeat difficulties, fear, and confusion. Now is the time to stand up strongly and solidly and receive strength and the breath of life from God through the Word and prayer.
