The Lord Will Resolve It for You

2 Peter 3:8-13

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

Unraveling the prophecy

2 Peter 3:7 says, “By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.” It means that those who are ungodly will be judged by the Word of God. The judgment of fire is judgment through the Word. Judgment is letting people know what is righteous and what is unjust, and repaying people according to their deeds.

2 Peter 3:8-13 simply means that God will send the Lord on that day, resolve everything through the Word, judge the wicked, and make the world clean.

Get answers to life’s problems

To resolve everything through the Word means that Christ will interpret the Bible through the Word of God, unravel all the questions and mysteries of the Bible and the world, and resolve frustrating life problems and difficult issues. Since the Lord is the head who governs over us, the Lord will resolve things for us.

The Lord has to solve all problems for them to be solved properly. Your thoughts, heart, body, constitution, questions, and all kinds of things are resolved with the Word. For example, if you interpret the Bible properly, the “last days” is not about the world ending in literal flames of fire. It is referring to the end of an old era and the beginning of a new era through the Word of God.

The Lord will resolve things for you according to Heaven’s timing

It’s not that God is slow in fulfilling His promise, but God is patient for our sake so that we have enough time to prepare to receive the Messiah, and so that no one will perish. “The elements will melt in the heat” means that with God’s Word, the Lord will resolve all the mysteries of creation and questions in people’s hearts. Everything will be resolved through the Lord in this way, so what kind of people ought we to be? We must believe in the Lord, treat him with respect, become one with him, and live loving God and the Holy Spirit.
