Matthew 11:25-30
At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
God’s Word is the core of eternal life
In order to carry out God’s Will, the most important thing is to first listen to the Word and then act on it.
At Jesus’ time, the Messiah that the Israelites had been waiting for had come, but the people rejected him and argued against him. If they had known properly about the Messiah, they would have acted differently, for they could not receive salvation without him. Only salvation guarantees eternity. And whether you receive that eternal benefit or not is determined by the Word. Incidentally, the person who had the Word of eternal life at that time was Jesus. So not accepting Jesus meant not accepting the Word. And even if they had accepted the Word, rejecting Jesus meant rejecting salvation because the Messiah is the one who brings salvation to mankind. Furthermore, since God came through Jesus, rejecting Jesus was the same as rejecting God. Therefore, even people who said “I reject Jesus, but I believe in God” still could not receive salvation because God and the Messiah are one.
To whom does God reveal Himself?
The Jewish people who had been waiting for God to come for 4,000 years considered themselves wise and prudent, but in the end they were too arrogant to accept the Word, and they upset God’s heart. Jesus realized that when one path doesn’t work out, God takes a different path. He realized that God was carrying out His Will by appearing to those who hadn’t been hardened by arrogance. Although the gospel was preached to everyone, God hid Jesus’ mission from those who thought that they were wise and had Jesus reveal himself only to those who were like children.
God’s method is the best method
In Matthew 11:27-30, Jesus explains that people become weary and burdened by sin but that their burden can become light, and the work they do can become easy, if they come to learn and know God’s method.
God will work through you regardless of your profession. Although David was a shepherd, he studied a lot, and he was able to do great things because he did them with God. Through studying, he realized that he could defeat Goliath by relying on God. Even though Goliath was a giant with a shield, a sword, and tremendous fighting abilities, he was easily defeated by a small teenager with a single stone because David was united with God. By defeating Goliath, he defeated the entire army because in those times, the enemy would surrender after losing their general.
This was the best method because it was God’s method. The result of David’s study of this problem was to do things with God, and throughout his entire life, he put into practice what he had learned. As king, when other nations invaded, David always fought against them in the name of God. As a result, he defeated all of them. In this way, when you study, make an effort, and do things being united with God, you can easily achieve great feats.
Study and make an effort to find the easiest way
Why did God bless David so abundantly by allowing him to become King and defeat all of his enemies? It is because David praised God, rejoiced in God, and gave glory to God. David gained merit as a result of his efforts, and in addition to his own merits, God also blessed him because of the merits of his ancestors.
Therefore, keep studying well the things that God has given you. Use things more ideally and in multiple ways. You’ll know the power God has given you if you keep taking action.
Just like Jesus and other Biblical figures, study and make an effort to prosper spiritually but also study and make an effort to prosper physically too. If you study and make an effort to do well both spiritually and physically, then you can receive both types of blessings.
