Glory after Tribulation and Suffering
Luke 17:25
But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
Luke 24:26
Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”
The Lord sent by God receives glory after going through suffering and hardships.
As for tribulation, there were hardships at the time of the prophets, at the time of the judges, and at the time of other central figures like Moses and David. David especially went through extreme trials and tribulation and fought many difficult battles. In fact, he went through so much suffering at the hands of King Saul, who had sent armies after David to try to kill him. However, David eventually became king and ruler of the nation after overcoming all of that suffering and hardship.
Similarly, Christ went through the worst suffering—the most intense suffering of all. While holding the most honorable and glorious mission, he went through suffering at the same level: they rejected him, killed him, and discarded his body.
The many things that were promised in the Bible didn’t always come true in exactly the way people expected. They came true in different ways and at a higher level according to the time period.
Therefore, Jesus was rejected out of ignorance. And yet, he still successfully carried out God’s history. As a tremendous being, the Messiah saved an incredible number of people, and God used him as the spirit of salvation. Jesus said, “If you receive the Word of God, then you will become a god.” If you absolutely obey the Word of God, then you have become a god as a human being.
Human beings cannot be above God
God is absolute. A person who has a physical body, of course, cannot become absolute like God. That’s common sense. There are only three absolute Gods. Who are they? They are God, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Son. They are the only absolute Gods.
In order for people to become a god as a human being, they have to listen to the Word of God, who is the Absolute Deity, and definitely put it into practice. The Messiah was said to be a man. However, he was a human being but also Christ, the Savior. He received the Word of God and lived by it absolutely.
Even though he was rejected, after the resurrection, Jesus carried out the history of glory continually, and he achieved that great salvation history in the last 2000-year history of God. Jesus said, “I’m coming again. I will return.” God made Jesus prophesy like that.
Jesus went through a lot of tribulation and suffering. He was rejected and discarded by the time period. If they had simply thrown him into a trash can, then all he would have needed to do was to clean up and come back out again. However, they murdered him. They killed him altogether. Even though they went to this extreme, God still carried out history as the Owner. In this way, regarding all matters, God is in overall control and takes action.
Things happened that way at Jesus’ time because people were ignorant. Those people had prayed and pleaded with God, and God promised them, “Okay I will go to you, and I will send the Savior to save you.” But when the Lord came, they were merciless to the Savior. They were nice to beggars, and they were even nice to their personal enemies. However, ruthlessly, they looked down upon Jesus who had done them no wrong, and they ultimately betrayed him.
Everyone, you are giving glory to God according to the times. Like Christ, you also go through suffering and hardships first and then receive glory afterwards. This is the case for Christ, and this is the case for those who follow him as well. Now is the time when you will receive God’s blessings wherever you go.
