God Gives Us the Word and Work That Are Unimaginable

Isaiah 55:8-9

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Act on God’s Word, for His Thoughts Are Higher Than Ours

The work God does is so tremendous that people in the flesh cannot comprehend it and instead have doubts. God’s thoughts are hundreds of times greater than people’s thoughts. So even though people believe in God, they are afraid, thinking, “Is this really true?” God takes action in omnipotent and omniscient ways. When you look at how He works in the Bible, you can see that He gave Words that people could not even imagine in each time period. That is why His chosen people, tasked with carrying out His Will, were shocked and said that they could not do it.

One example can be found in Exodus 3:10 and Exodus 4:10–15. God commanded Moses to go to Pharaoh at once and demand the release of His people, who had been enslaved for 400 years, and told Moses that he would lead them out of Egypt. God simply told him to do it. Moses was shocked and asked how he could possibly do such a thing. But God instructed him to go and act. When Moses said that he could not speak well, God said that He would send his brother Aaron with him. Moses thought this was an impossible task. Yet he obeyed God’s Word and did it. As expected, Pharaoh refused to let the Israelites go. However, when God brought the ten plagues, Pharaoh eventually let them go. Truly, God’s Word transcended human reasoning. When Moses acted on the Word, God’s Will was fulfilled.

Another example is found in Judges 6:36–40 and Judges chapters 7 and 8, especially Judges 7:7, 7:22, and 8:9–10. God performed a miracle through Gideon and his 300 soldiers. When the Midianites and Amalekites came against Israel, Gideon prayed to God. He prayed that if there were dew only on a wool fleece and the ground remained dry, he would know that God would save Israel through him. After Gideon placed the fleece, there was indeed dew only on the wool. Gideon was astonished and asked for another sign. This time, he asked that the fleece remain dry while the ground was covered with dew. God answered exactly as he requested. Then God instructed Gideon to take only three hundred men to fight against tens of thousands of enemies. When God is with you, miracles happen. Humanly speaking, it is impossible for three hundred men to defeat such a vast army. Yet Gideon obeyed God’s unbelievable Word, took action, fought, and won.

In this way, God works in ways that are hundreds and thousands of times higher than human thinking. If the omnipotent and omniscient God acted only according to human reasoning, there would be no hope. God must act according to His divine nature. Only then is His Will fulfilled on earth.

God’s thoughts are higher than ours, just as the heavens are higher than the earth. His thoughts are different from ours. They are so high and beyond human imagination that we cannot grasp them. That is why God is omnipotent and omniscient. Yet when we act on His Word, it becomes reality, because God is with us.

Live for the Sake of Your Spirit

A lifetime in the physical world is like a single day compared to the eternal world of the spirit. Therefore, you must live your present life with your eternal future in mind.

When people are saved and live faithfully in the world, they will live forever in Heaven. However, no matter how wealthy, famous, or powerful someone may be, if they are not saved, their spirit will go to Hell and suffer eternally. The suffering of the spirit is experienced as if the body itself were enduring the pain.

As you live in the physical world, your body must serve your spirit. Do not live only for the present, but live earnestly for the future with hope. Then you will gain strength and joy. If you live only for the present, your soul and spirit cannot support your body, because the spirit is destined for death. Instead, they will complain, and the body will live in emptiness and futility.

Living only for the physical life is a life without a future. If the body lives only for today, there will be nothing to harvest tomorrow. Farmers labor, sow seeds, and endure hardship for a future harvest. In the same way, set conditions now for the future of your spirit. Be strong in times of tribulation. When you act with hope, you will receive a reward. As your spirit and soul serve God in hope, they will be strengthened. That is a life filled with hope.

Do God’s Work Despite Tribulations and Difficulties

During times of tribulation, persecution, and suffering, opportunities arise to do works that you could not normally do. Great works are often entrusted during difficult times.

Figures in the Bible such as Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, the judges, King David, King Hezekiah, Elijah, Daniel, Esther, Jonah, the prophets, Jesus, His disciples and apostles, the heroes of faith, and the martyrs fulfilled God’s Will amid great suffering. They acted at the risk of their lives, regardless of injustice or hardship. That is victory.

Though Satan and evildoers act freely for a time, they are ultimately judged and destroyed. Even now, they dwell in death in the spiritual world. Just because the righteous suffer does not mean they have failed. Victory belongs to those who endure to the end. God saves the righteous and judges the wicked. In Sodom and Gomorrah, God saved Lot and his two daughters while judging the rest. God remembers the righteous and judges evil in the end.

God’s thoughts are different from ours, and He fulfills His Will according to His Word. When God entrusts you with a great task, even one that seems impossible, act in faith. Do not be afraid of tribulation. It is God’s work. God will accomplish it.
