Genesis 9:12-16
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
God’s covenant and sign to Noah after the flood
At the time of Noah, God said to Noah, “Do not be afraid; I will make this covenant between you and Me. I will never again destroy the world with water. I make this promise and give you a sign of the covenant.” God had given Noah the Word of blessing, and as a sign of His promise, God showed Noah a rainbow. Whenever Noah saw a rainbow, he was reminded of what God had said.
The evidence and sign of God’s promise
God and the Holy Spirit make promises to us and also show evidence, whether through signs in reality or through dreams, as tokens of those promises. These tokens are proof of God’s promise, so you feel at ease and don’t worry. But if you forget about the evidence or token, then you cannot live properly according to the promise God gave you. This is why the token of what God has promised is truly valuable and precious.
God’s promises and signs are not only shown as rainbows; they can differ depending on the time in history, and they vary from person to person. In the Bible, God gave Abram a new name—Abraham—as a token of His promise that Abraham would succeed and prosper. To Joseph, God gave a dream as a token of his future success. By interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, Joseph ultimately became the prime minister of Egypt and his descendants also benefited. As you look at the signs and symbolic items you’ve received as tokens of the promises God has given you, always give thanks and love to the Trinity and the Lord even more.
God judges every day according to our deeds
Every day, God blesses those who should be blessed and judges those who should be judged according to the deeds of each individual. This is because He has to repay everyone according to what they have done. Although righteous people may also suffer when God brings judgment upon the sinners, they aren’t the main subject of the judgment. God does not judge the righteous but judges the sinners who do not repent. Realize how God is carrying out judgment even today.
Prosper by remembering God’s covenant with you
Because Noah valued the sign of God’s covenant, God blessed him and his family. Like Noah, you have to value the signs that God has given you. The Word is a token from God. God always sees whether you have done according to the Word or not, and He does not let those who have received His token suffer. Value the things that you received from God as a sign of His promise, then you will come to prosper. God makes sure to keep that promise.
