John 17:3-4
“Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. 4 I have brought You glory on earth by finishing the work You gave me to do.”
Be unwavering in your faith
The Scripture in John 17:3-4 is the absolute mentality we must have: to be unshaken in our faith and love towards the Lord. Our faith must not waver even though we see things from our own perspectives. We must know clearly who God is and whom God sent to this world. Only then can we gain eternal life.
When we pray deeply and listen to the Word, then we come to know about God’s history and the current time period. If we know about these things clearly, then we will never stumble in faith. And if we truly believe, testify, and preach the Word together with the Holy Spirit, we will have no regrets in life. Those who have lived in this way can never deny the Holy Spirit nor the Lord. The Word and the Lord go hand in hand. How can you deny what you have done within the Lord? We must remember these times and the things God has done for us, otherwise our faith will die and we’ll become disconnected from God.
Know clearly whom God works through
Before Jesus died on the cross, he said a lot to the people of that time period, while seeing the situation of their faith, to help them believe in him. He said:
“I am in the Father and the Father is in me” [John 14:11],
“If you love me, obey my commands” [John 14:15],
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” [John 14:27]
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” [John 15:4]
The Messiah brings the Word of the new time period, and he takes action solely upon that Word. But at Jesus’ time, people doubted that he was the one sent by God, thinking that he was acting according to his own thoughts. We must clearly realize whom God works through in each time period and the mission that person has. That person is a witness to God’s working, and it is through him that we come to know God.
Love God with all your heart, will, and life
If we absolutely love God and believe in the one He sent, we will gain eternal salvation. We grow to love God by listening and taking action according to His Word. And we shouldn’t learn just in theory but with a deep understanding of the things the Lord does. The Lord is the person sent who testifies about what God has done, and he is the only real path to knowing God. God created this world out of love for human beings, and He set the Messiah to deliver the Word to us. If we must entrust our life to God, then He will take care of us even more. So whether working, studying, exercising, or eating, do everything together with God and the Lord. Do it giving glory to God in your everyday life.
Let’s love God with all our heart, will, and life and realize more deeply about God and the one whom God works through.
